On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the Lord called home our beautiful angel, Avis Denise Dozier.
She was born on March 24, 1963 in Norfolk, VA. Avis was predeceased by Betty Davis and her guardians James and Ruth Ferebee.
Avis accomplished so many milestones in her life. She went to Chesapeake Public Schools,
where she graduated from Great Bridge High School. She also attended Norfolk State
University. Soon after, she attended Keys Business College, where she received an Associate Degree in Business. She also worked as a secretary, same company as her husband, which was Electrical Suppliers. Avis also earned her certificate of completion as Personal Care Aide/Home Health Care in 2022.
Avis was a dedicated member of the New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church for years, where she was part of the youth choir, gospel choir, Sunday school teacher, and secretary for the church. She was also a part of the user board as well. Avis was such an inspiration to so many people. She was a great mother, grandmother, niece, sister, friend, and most of all a wonderful and loving wife.
Before her illness slowed her down, Avis enjoyed traveling with family and friends to many
places. She went on cruises and enjoyed many concerts. Most of all, she loved music and
dancing! One thing for sure Avis loved her wonderful children, grandchildren, and great
nephews and nieces.
Avis leaves to cherish her memory an amazing husband of 37 year, Kelvin Dozier, who he
loved and cherished so much. Three sons; Kelvin, Kameron, and Kedrick Dozier; three
grandchildren, Adriane, Kennedy, and Angel. Father; Joseph Lewis, Sr.; four sisters, Valerie
Davis, Brenda Davis, Andrea Saunders (Ray), Arlene Nixon (Allen); one brother Joseph Lewis, Jr.; three aunts, Collette Sessoms, Goldie Lewis, Annie Mae Lewis; two uncles, James Riddick and Calvin Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
